Horses have been the companion of humans on every continent that they are native to for centuries. Favored for transportation, warfare, and as work animals, there are many different breeds across Cphera, but they all tend to fall into the same three types.

Light Horse

Light horses are exceptionally fast and are great distance runners. They are favored by scouts, messengers, and warriors that require an agile and speedy mount. Light horses tend to be very energetic and spirited, earning them the name of "Hot-blood." They range from 12 to 15 hands in height (48 to 60 inches), and weigh from 800 to 1,000 pounds.

Combat

Light horses tend to be very skittish around danger. If startled, they will often launch one attack and bolt away.

Special

When a horse Charges an opponent of Medium size or smaller, the opponent must make a DC: 30 Reflex Save or be knocked Prone and subject to four hoof attacks. A horse may trample multiple opponents in a single Charge action.

If an opponent is already prone, a horse only has to move over the hex that the opponent is occupying to trigger this ability.

Medium Horse

Medium horses are stronger than light horses, but not as fast, and weaker than heavy horses, but with more longevity over a long distance. They are the happy medium between the two, and are often used to pull carriages or other loads that aren't necessarily heavy and need to move at a decent pace. While more docile than light horses, they still retain a glimmer of their wild fire, and are sometimes referred to as "warm-bloods." Medium horses stand at about 14 to 16 hands (58 to 64 inches) and can weigh from 1,000 to 1,200 pounds.

Combat

Medium horses can be quite aggressive when threatened. If they perceive the threat as minor, they will often crush it to the ground. A major threat, such as a predator, will earn a nasty kick before the horse runs off.

Heavy Horse

Heavy horses have a singular purpose: to haul loads. Massively strong animals, heavy horses are used as draft animals, pulling heavy carts and plowing fields. They stand at 16 to 19 hands (64 to 76 inches), and weigh from 1,400 to 2,000 pounds. Because of their great weight, heavy horses are slow and bad at distance running. They are also much more docile and complacent than the smaller breeds, and are referred to as "cold-bloods."

Combat

Heavy horses are very docile, and will only react to very obvious danger. If threatened, they are more likely to run than anything else.
