I didn't say there was a cap. I stopped at 20 for a few reasons. 1: it's a common stopping point. 2: level 20 characters will have game-breaking abilities (by design of course). Most DMs will want to stick to the Established range of levels.

Another things is that after 20th level, you're literally going to be super-human. So yes, no reason to limit, but no reason to go that high either. At that point, you're effectively a god-creature.
