Jump to: navigation, search

Polar bears live near the water in the arctic regions of the world. Their preferred prey is seal, and they hunt them on the edges of ice floes. Polar bears are the largest natural bears in the world, weighing in at anywhere from 600 to 2,200 pounds. Polar bears are very predatory in nature, and hungry bears have been known to hunt and eat humans when food is otherwise scarce. Confrontations with polar bears are almost always fatal.

Combat

Polar bears attack when they feel threatened or when they are very hungry. Surviving such an encounter is rare, but if a polar bear is seriously injured, it may attempt to escape.

Special Abilities

Scent

The Scent ability grants black bears the ability to sense creatures by smell within 30 feet. If the black bear is upwind of a target, that range increases to 60 feet.

Additionally, black bears can use the Awareness skill to detect scents from beyond the immediate range of this ability, such as for following a creature's trail, or in finding an object through smell.
