The Breastplate is a component of all plate armors, but it is often made to be a suit by itself. It consists of one or two large plates arranged to protect the chest, stomach, shoulders and neck. Because it leaves the arms, head, and lower extremities free, it is quite light and easy to move in. It does not offer great protection against a proper hit, but it is surprisingly effective at deflecting blows, due to its curved and solid design.
