Stones are just that -stones. Assuming you are in an area with stones, it requires 2 AP to find an appropriate stone, and up to 5 can be held in the off hand at a time.
Since your average stone is not properly suited to flight, it takes a -4 to attack and damage, but it has the advantage of being free.
