Cougar
Cougars are large solitary cats. About the same size and weight as a human, these lone hunters silently stalk their prey through forests and mountains. Exceptional jumpers and climbers, cougars are also very fast and agile. Their coat varies from a light tan to a stony grey to a dark black depending on the region. Cougars are solitary animals, and will hunt alone. They cannot roar, but their screams sound like that of a dying woman.

Combat
Cougars tend to avoid humans unless they feel threatened or especially hungry. It is not unknown for small children or babies to be taken in the night by a hungry cougar.
A threatened or hungry cougar is especially dangerous. When facing a single opponent, they will use their exceptional jumping abilities to leap into battle, and immediately go for a Grapple. Once in a grapple, they will use their Rake ability to shred their opponent. Cougars are ambush predators, and will try to sneak up on targets unnoticed if possible.
When fighting multiple enemies, cougars will use their agility to avoid engaging them all at once. Instead, they will try to isolate and kill their opponents one at a time.
Special Abilities
Bite
If a cougar causes damage with its Bite attack, it may choose to initiate a Grapple as a Free Action without Presenting an Opening.
While in a grapple started with a Bite attack, a cougar does 1d4+7 of crushing damage every round. This effect stacks with other grappling abilities such as Rake.
Jumper
When jumping, cougars do not need a 20 foot running start for the Jumping DCs listed in the Athletics skill. Additionally, if a cougar does get a 20-foot running start before a jump, it gains a +10 bonus to that roll.
Rake
When in a Grapple cougars can use their hind claws to cause immense damage to their opponents. Whenever a cougar is in a grapple, it can give up all other actions this round to deal 6d6+7 damage to it's grappled opponent.
Scent
The Scent ability grants cougars the ability to sense creatures by smell within 30 feet. If the cougar is upwind of a target, that range increases to 60 feet.
Additionally, cougars can use the Awareness skill to detect scents from beyond the immediate range of this ability, such as for following a creature's trail, or in finding an object through smell.
