A cloth wrap is literally just a coat or blanket wrapped tightly around the arm to provide a small amount of protection. It is functional, but does not work well.
The bonus provided applies only agains slashing and piercing weapons. Both arrow deflection and shield bashes are impossible with this type of improvised shield.
