The cutlass deals +4 damage against objects. If you are fighting in an enclosed space (small corridor, hold of a ship) you get a +2 to Attack and a +1 deflection bonus to AC against opponents who are using anything other than a Light Weapon.
The cutlass can be used to deal bludgeoning or sublethal damage for only a -2 to attack and damage, by using the flat of the blade.
