AP Cost: 2

The Counter action allows a character to take advantage of his attacker's failures and set up an opportunity to reverse them.

If a character is attacked and the attack value falls within the character's Counter Window, the attacked character can attempt a Counter Check that is opposed by his attackers own Counter Check.

Counter Check: 1d20 + Dexterity + BAB + Combat Ability points allocated to one's Counter Window

If the attacked character's Counter Check result meets or exceeds the attacker's Counter Check result, the attacker is rendered Flat-footed until his next turn and Presents an Opening that only the attacked character can take advantage of.

  • A character cannot counter an attack that he receives due to him being Open.
  • If a character has a Counter Window of 0 (IE: if the attacker's attack value equals the defender's AC or less), a successful Counter Check simply deflects the attack by default.
