A Double Weapon is a weapon that has two possible ways to attack. A Halberd with a pointed base would be an example of a double weapon.
A character can attack with either part of a double weapon. Attacking with both parts in one round causes the character to incur the Attack#Two Weapon Fighting penalties, treating the double weapon as a one handed and light weapon.
