The 5-foot shift action allows a character to move one hex in any direction without Presenting an Opening. There are a few special rules concerning the action, however:
- When in a Mêlée Cluster (two or more characters fighting in mêlée), a character shifting around an opponent gives the opponent an opportunity to shift around that character.
- Shifting away from a mêlée cluster offers no such opportunity.
- While it is free on your turn, you may only perform this a maximum of once per round.
The action is free on a character's turn, or it costs 1 AP as an off-turn action.
