Like Weave Chain, this is a variant pattern of Chainmail, using smaller and more tightly-linked chains, which deals very well with piercing damage. It is the heaviest chain.
For the purposes of move silently checks, as with normal chainmail, the armor is treated as having twice the armor check penalty as normal - thus it gives a -12 penalty instead of just a -6.
