Stones are just that - stones. Assuming you are in an area with stones, it requires 2 AP to find an appropriate stone at your feet, and up to 5 can be held in the off hand at a time. Note that the 2 AP allows you to choose either a normal stone (about 50-100 g) or a Fist Stone (up to 500 g).
Since your average stone is not properly suited to flight, it takes a -4 to attack and damage, but it has the advantage of being free.
