The sabre is one of many curved swords popular with cavalry. It covers many similar swords that go by other names but are mechanically identical, such as the Scimitar, Shamshir, or Dao.

If used as part of a charge on horseback this weapon deals +2 damage.

The sabre, because of its unique design, can be and often is made blunt. This switches its damage type to bludgeoning but otherwise does not change the weapon.

Light fencing swords are often erroneously referred to as Sabres.
