Learning new Languages

Whenever you level up you may choose to learn a new language. The default cost is 2 General Upgrade Points for a language in a family you already know a language in and 6 General Upgrade Points for a language in a family with which you have no experience. The Gm may rule that these prices may be reduced under certain circumstances, for example if you are stranded in a strange land and forced to learn out of necessity. They may also be increased, if you would have a hard time finding a teacher who shares a language or books and grammars for learning the language. Obviously you cannot learn a language you would have no way to acquire, such as one you have never encountered or a language from a culture you have never heard of.
