The Flail is similar to a Mace, except that instead of the head being directly attached to the handle it is on the end of a short length of chain. This causes it to travel at greater speeds and in a more unpredictabel manner, though it increases the risk to the wielder.
A Natural 1 with a flail is always an automatically successful hit against yourself, unless you have Weapon Focus (Flail), in which case it is only a 50% chance.
