The dart is a small metal point, shaft or blade with some sort of streamer or fletching to ensure that it flies straight. It is thrown at targets and can be surprisingly effective.
Darts are not exceptionally dangerous by themselves, especially against armored targets, but it is quite popular to Poison them.
As a Thrown Weapon, barring extraordinary circumstance, darts are always retrievable.
