Chainmail consists of a simple, long shirt called a hauberk and a long close-fitting cap called a coif made entirely of small metal rings riveted or welded together. it provides excellent protection against edged weapons but is very heavy and cumbersome.
For the purposes of move silently checks, the armor is treated as having twice the armor check penalty as normal - thus it gives a -10 penalty instead of just a -5.
