The Chain Shirt is a type of light chainmail consisting of a t-shirt sized suit of small interlocking metal rings riveted or in rare cases welded together. It offers excellent protection against slashes and moderate protection otherwise. It is simple to make but takes a long long time.

Chainmail is loud. It is treated as having an Armor Penalty of -3 when making move silently checks - this means all such checks take a -3 while this armor is being worn or carried in such a way that it can clink and shift around. Other penalties are as normal.
